Leather Care & Stain RemovalUpdated a month ago

Help! I spilled something on my leather bag. What should I do?

Don't panic! First, gently blot (don't rub) any excess liquid with a clean, dry cloth. For water-based stains, let the leather air dry naturally away from heat sources. For oil-based stains, sprinkle cornstarch or talcum powder on the stain and let it sit overnight to absorb the oil, then brush off gently.

How do I remove scuffs and scratches from my leather?

Minor scuffs often disappear on their own as the leather develops its natural patina. For deeper scratches, try gently rubbing with your finger - the natural oils can help. For persistent marks, use a small amount of leather conditioner on a soft cloth and gently buff the area.

Can I use regular household cleaners on my leather bag?

Never use household cleaners, soaps, or harsh chemicals on leather. These can damage the finish and cause cracking or discoloration. Only use products specifically designed for leather care, or stick to our recommended cleaning methods with slightly damp cloths.

How often should I condition my leather?

We recommend conditioning your Parker Clay leather goods every 6-12 months, depending on use and climate. If you live in a dry climate or use your bag frequently, condition more often. Signs your leather needs conditioning include stiffness, dryness, or minor cracking.

What's the difference between vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned leather?

Our bags use mostly vegetable-tanned leather, which is tanned using plant-based tannins. This creates a more natural, breathable leather that develops a beautiful patina over time. It's also more environmentally friendly than chrome-tanning, which uses chromium chemicals.
